Women's History Month at WIU in March

What do women like Catherine the Great, Susan B. Anthony, Madam Curie, Gloria Steinem and Madeline Albright all have in common?
They have all successfully moved through the ranks of the "good ol' boy" network and overcome numerous stereotypes.
To recognize the historic, cultural, charitable and societal contributions of women, Western Illinois University president Donald S. Spencer has declared March "Women's History Month."
As part of a month-long celebration, the WIU Women's Center has compiled a calendar of events recognizing women's achievements and contributions. According to Women's Center director Janine Cavicchia, calendar items were solicited from academic and administrative departments and student organizations.
"I'd like to thank everyone who submitted programs and activities, all presenters and sponsors, Women's History Month coordinating committee members Ginny Boynton, Karen Burnham, Janis Edwards, Jacqueline McLeod and Jacquelyn Holan, and our Women's Center staff and volunteers," Cavicchia said. "We have a full calendar of interesting and diverse programs, and I invite and encourage students, faculty, staff and community members to join us as we 'Celebrate Women of Courage and Vision.'"
