Hagler to Speak at WIU Art Gallery April 9

MACOMB, IL – Artist, teacher and writer Elana Hagler will speak at the Western Illinois University Art Gallery Wednesday, April 9 about "Writing About Art: Words that Help and Words that Hurt."
The talk begins at 4 p.m. and will be followed by a general discussion. Hagler will talk about her own writing in addition to the works of other writers and explore issues that arise relative to writing about art.
A current teacher at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, CA, Hagler is also a staff writer for the art blog, "Painting Perceptions." Her art work is also included in the current WIU Art Gallery exhibit, "Painting the Familiar and the Ordinary: Contemporary Still Life," which is on display through Saturday, April 19.
Hagler's presentation is co-sponsored by the WIU Department of English and Journalism and the Liberal Arts and Sciences program. The exhibition and related programming are sponsored by support from the Performing Arts Society (PAS).
