WIU CSP Professor Honored with ACPA Lifetime Achievement Award

MACOMB/MOLINE, IL - - Western Illinois University College Student Personnel Professor Tracy Davis has been recognized with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award from ACPA: College Student Educators International. The award will be presented at the ACPA Annual Convention in Long Beach, CA, on February 17. This honor acknowledges Davis' significant and sustained contributions to the field of student affairs and higher education.
Davis has dedicated more than 30 years to advancing scholarship, mentorship and practice in student affairs and higher education. His body of work includes empirical research published in refereed journals, book chapters and four influential books co-authored or edited with mentees and colleagues. His publications include Gender-Aware Practices: Intersectional Approaches to Applying Masculinities in Student Affairs (2018), Advancing Social Justice: Tools, Pedagogie and Strategies to Transform Your Campus (2013), Masculinities in Higher Education: Theoretical and Practical Considerations (2011) and Developing Social Justice Allies (2004). These works highlight his commitment to collaboration and advancing social justice and gender equity in higher education.
Throughout his career, Davis has been an integral leader within ACPA, serving on the Executive Council, the Commission on Professional Preparation Directorate and the Coalition on Men and Masculinities. He has also contributed as an ACPA Senior Scholar, frequently presenting at professional conferences and consulting with colleges and universities on men's development and social justice issues.
At WIU, Davis has mentored graduate students, emerging professionals and scholars in higher education and student affairs. His leadership was instrumental in launching the Hybrid Higher Education Leadership Master's Degree track within the College Student Personnel (CSP) Program and the Educational Leadership Doctoral Program in Organizational Justice, Equity and Inclusion. His work has shaped the development of professionals committed to justice and equity in student affairs.
The ACPA Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes individuals with at least two decades of extraordinary involvement and service in student affairs and higher education. Recipients of this award have demonstrated a lasting impact through scholarly contributions and exemplary leadership at one or more institutions of higher education. Typically awarded near the recipient's retirement, this honor serves as a testament to Davis' enduring influence on the profession.
Davis is in his 27th year of teaching at WIU, where his humility, dedication and commitment to service continue to inspire students and colleagues.
