Just Hired: Toheeb Olalekan Rafiu

Just Hired! Through the experiences of local, regional, national and international students, Western Illinois University has some incredible alumni who are changing the world in the workforce. This series will feature students from all over the world who are hired post-graduation.

MACOMB, IL - - Meet Toheeb Olalekan Rafiu, a Western Illinois University Geographic Information Science (GIS) and Geoenvironment graduate, who has been hired by ID Plans LLC, a company that collects and organizes real estate data for marketing and analysis.

Rafiu found the job posting on Indeed and began his application process online.

"I applied and after some days, I was sent some questions to answer. After that, I had two rounds of interviews with the top management in the company and I was offered the position," Rafiu said.

Rafiu credits the guidance and experience received at WIU with preparing him for his professional career.

"During my time at WIU, I learned interactions and adaptability. My major helped me to get this job by helping us to create a portfolio, making internship part of our curriculum and making us participate in school projects," Rafiu said.

As a proud alumnus, Rafiu plans to remain connected to WIU through community engagement.

"I will stay involved with WIU by subscribing to their newsletter, participating in Alumni activities and keeping in touch with my professors," Rafiu said.
