WIU Department of Art & Design Hosts First Wednesday Event on April 2

MACOMB, IL - - The Western Illinois University Department of Art & Design will present its April First Wednesday event from 7-9 p.m., Wednesday, April 2, in Garwood Hall and the Heating Plant Annex. This free, interactive event invites community members, students and faculty to participate in hands-on art activities.
Faculty and students from WIU's Department of Art & Design collaborate to offer engaging experiences for visitors of all ages and skill levels. Participants will have the opportunity to explore various art techniques through workshops led by WIU faculty and students.
Activities in Garwood Hall will include brush and ink bird drawings with Tim Waldrop in Garwood 3, The Artful Egg – Art History Trivia Game with Sherry Lindquist in Garwood 10, spring window clings with art education students in Garwood 24 and a collage workshop with Damon McArthur in Garwood 25. Activities in the Heating Plant Annex will feature wearable rainbows – anodized chain bracelets with Kat Myers in HPA 107 and cosmic wheel throwing with Ian Shelly in HPA 111.
The University Art Gallery will be open during the event, featuring "Looking and Thinking," by Jan Clough.
The Garwood Hall elevator is currently out of order and attendees will need to use the stairs to access some activities.

First Wednesday events are open free to the public, with generous support provided by The Performing Arts Society and Dick Blick. Children under 13 must be accompanied and supervised by an adult.
