Registration Open for Thursday's College Pathways Summer Camp
June 24, 2025

MACOMB, IL - - Western Illinois University will host its free annual College Pathways summer camp from Thursday, June 26 through Saturday, June 28.
The program is available to high school students from rural school districts whose parents did not obtain a college degree. Through fun games and activities, students will learn about various academic disciplines available through higher education, as well as develop their academic and leadership skills.
The College Pathways camp will provide a free overnight experience with meals provided.
This camp is supported through the Addressing Equity Gaps among Rural Students (AEGARS) grant awarded to WIU in February 2024.
"We are excited this year as we amplify the impact on our region by increasing the number of participating districts and campers," Julia Albarracín, WIU Political Science professor and AEGARS project principal investigator, said. "We have also added more outdoor activities for the students, such as a visit to the WIU Horn Field campus."
Melissa Telles, the project's bilingual admissions counselor, said this summer camp will provide students guidance and give them confidence as they prepare for their post-secondary education.
"We hope our academic exploration, leadership development and social engagement activities will help the students gain confidence in starting their college journey, benefiting their families and communities," Telles said.
Students can still register for the camp using the QR code in the flyer or by following this link.
