WIU's new podcast, "WIU: Inside the System" is hosted by LEJA Interim Director Jaime Johnson and will dive into many topics within the world of law enforcement.

LEJA Dives "Inside the System" in New Podcast

MACOMB, IL - - The Western Illinois University Law Enforcement and Justice Administration (LEJA) program is proud to announce the launch of a new weekly podcast, "WIU: Inside the System."

Hosted by LEJA Interim Director Jaime Johnson, "WIU: Inside the System" will dive into many topics within the world of law enforcement, bringing fresh perspectives on current issues and help shed light on things that occur behind the scenes which will affect people's everyday lives. The podcast will air new episodes on Thursdays on WIU's YouTube channel, with episodes coming to Spotify in the future.

"I am so excited to have the ‘WIU: Inside the System' podcast begin," Johnson said. "The heart and soul of the School of Law Enforcement and Justice Administration at WIU is our faculty, staff and all the individuals who assisted in the podcast's development. I have a tremendous team and this platform will allow students and professionals to gain insight on each of these elite professionals as well as the ability to take a deep dive into their specialty areas. "

The first episode of the podcast is now live on YouTube, featuring WIU professor Todd Lough who spent nine years as a Chicago police officer including work as a patrol officer and a gang violence analyst. He has also worked with companies including Major League Baseball and Sothebys and focuses his research on policing issues, private and public security concerns, and multi-jurisdictional responses to terrorism.

The first episodes of the podcast will focus on getting to know WIU's LEJA professors and how they got into their chosen fields. Later episodes will explore specific topics within public safety such as behavioral analysis, polygraph analysis, advanced interview techniques, combative tactics, advanced situational awareness, deescalation techniques and firefighting.
