Toomey Named Assistant VP of Admissions and Enrollment Support

MACOMB, IL - - Western Illinois University is pleased to welcome Richard Toomey as the new assistant vice president of Admissions and Enrollment Support, effective Oct. 1.
Toomey is a proven higher education executive leader with 31 years of experience in admissions. Most recently, Toomey spent four years as the associate vice president of Enrollment Management at Fitchburg State University. Prior to that, he spent 17 years at Indiana State University serving in multiple positions, including director of Admissions, assistant vice president of Enrollment Management and nine years as the associate vice president of Enrollment Management.
"I am so excited to join the community at Western Illinois University," Toomey said. "From my first interactions with the campus leadership, I knew that the number one priority was a focus on students. The mission and values of Western Illinois University have been a proven inspiration to all members of the student body, the faculty and staff and the alumni. I intend to bring my 30+ years of service with public higher education to further advance the vision of the Leatherneck community."
In this role, Toomey will lead all aspects of WIU's undergraduate recruitment efforts and will play a key role on both an institutional and divisional level, driving strategic enrollment priorities and shaping the new student onboarding experience.
