MACOMB, IL - -Western Illinois University students will dedicate their time and service to the community during a Service Saturday event on Saturday, Nov. 15, traveling to Bloomington, IL, to volunteer with Home Sweet Home Ministries.

The trip, organized by WIU's Office of Student Engagement Volunteer Programs, provides an opportunity for students to engage directly in community service while supporting one of Central Illinois' key nonprofit organizations. Home Sweet Home Ministries provides comprehensive care and resources for individuals experiencing homelessness in the Bloomington-Normal area.

During the event, WIU students will assist staff at the facility with a variety of tasks, including serving meals, general cleaning and maintenance and helping with ongoing projects and organizational needs.

Transportation will be provided for all participating students from the WIU–Macomb campus and lunch will be included.

Volunteers will also earn Purple & Gold Points for their participation.

Spaces for the Service Saturday trip are limited, and students are encouraged to register early through the Office of Student Engagement or via Leatherneck Link. Attendance at a mandatory pre-trip orientation session is required for all participants.
