QueerVember Begins Month-long Celebration Nov. 1

MACOMB, IL – The Western Illinois University LGBT*QA Resource Center invites students, faculty, staff and community members to come together this November for QueerVember, a month-long celebration of pride, identity and belonging.
Now in its second year, QueerVember is all about celebrating authenticity and community through creative, educational and empowering events that highlight the resilience and joy of the LGBT*QA community.
QueerVember will be carried out through a series of events throughout the month of November, giving several different opportunities for members of the LGBT*QA community to express their pride.
The following events will be held to celebrate QueerVember:
- Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 1-2, 4 p.m. - 9 a.m. - Camp Out | Horn Field Campus
- Tuesday, Nov. 4, 3-5 p.m. - Free Clothing Closet | Multicultural Center
- Friday, Nov. 7, 7-9 p.m. - Equality Ball: Renaissance | Multicultural Center
- Monday, Nov. 10, 2-4 p.m. - Flashes of Pride Photoshoot Women's Center
- Thursday, Nov. 13, 7-9 p.m. - Drag bingo | Grand Ballroom
- Friday, Nov. 14, 3-4 p.m. - What's the T*? Exploring Your Identity | Multicultural Center
- Monday, Nov. 17, 6-8 p.m. - Glide with Pride | Horrabin Hall
- Wednesday, Nov. 19, 7-9 p.m. - Gaymers Night | Digital Rec Center
- Thursday, Nov. 20, 5-8 p.m. - Trans* Day of Remembrance | Multicultural Center
"As a first-year graduate assistant within the LGBT*QA Resource Center, I am truly honored and grateful to be part of QueerVember, an empowering month filled with events that celebrate self-expression, community engagement and inclusivity," Graduate Assistant Stormy Lopez said. "It's a privilege to help coordinate activities that give members of our community the space to connect, be proud and live authentically."
Students, faculty, staff and community members are encouraged to attend and take part in QueerVember events.
"This month is more than a celebration, it's an acknowledgment of identity, community and the collective strength that carries us forward," Graduate Assistant Demi Thomas said. "To my WIU LGBT*QA family, thank you for creating a home where authenticity thrives and every story matters. Here's to continuing to lift each other up, not just this month, but every month."
The WIU LGBT*QA Resource Center serves as a welcoming space for education, advocacy and connection. Through its programs and partnerships, the Center fosters understanding, inclusion and empowerment for individuals of all sexual orientations, gender identities and gender expressions.
