WIU School of Music to Celebrate First Performance in New Goldfarb Center for Performing Arts

MACOMB, IL - - The Western Illinois University School of Music will mark a historic milestone during Homecoming weekend with its School of Music Celebration Concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, in the Great Hall of the new Goldfarb Center for Performing Arts.

In addition to performances by current WIU students, the School of Music is inviting WIU Music alumni to return to campus and participate in this historic occasion. In addition to cheering loudly in the audience, interested alumni may have the opportunity to play/sing on the new stage. WIU Music alumni interested in participating in the concert should complete the WIU School of Music Celebration Concert Alumni interest form.

The Celebration Concert will be the first School of Music performance in the new Goldfarb Center, offering students, alumni, faculty, community members, and guests an opportunity to experience the highly anticipated facility while celebrating the continued legacy of music at WIU.

The concert will feature performances by the four major School of Music ensembles: the WIU Wind Ensemble, University Singers, Jazz Studio Orchestra, and Symphony Orchestra, presenting a diverse "collage" of musical styles.

With nearly 900 seats, the Great Hall provides an opportunity for the WIU and surrounding communities to experience the School of Music's ensembles in the new state-of-the-art performance facility.
