MACOMB, IL - - The Western Illinois University Department of Art & Design will host its ninth Annual High School Art Exhibition & Awards from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, in Garwood Hall, the Heating Plant Annex and the University Art Gallery.

The free event is open to all high school students and will feature an art exhibition, portfolio reviews with Department of Art & Design faculty, studio workshops, department tours and lunch for participating students and teachers. Awards, prizes and Department of Art & Design scholarships will also be presented to accomplished high school seniors.

Students are encouraged to submit up to two of their strongest works for inclusion in the exhibition and to participate in portfolio reviews with faculty members. Framing is not required, but matting is recommended. All artwork must be ready to hang upon arrival and must be accompanied by a completed label attached to the back of the work.

There is no limit to the number of student participants from each school. Teachers are encouraged to share this opportunity with their students and invite them to showcase their artistic abilities while learning more about opportunities available through the WIU Department of Art & Design.

The event serves as the department's largest recruitment event of the year and provides an opportunity for high school students to display their creativity, receive professional feedback and compete for scholarships and awards.

All participants must pre-register at: https://forms.gle/TyenyMMhqnKcuMvq8
