- Description: The WIU Department of English welcomes Melissa Febos as the Fall 2024 Fred Ewing Case and Lola Austin Case Writer-in-Residence. Melissa Febos is the author of four books, including the nationally bestselling essay collection, GIRLHOOD, which has been translated into seven languages and was a LAMBDA Literary Award finalist, winner of the National Book Critics Circle Award in Criticism, and named a notable book of 2021 by NPR, Time, The Washington Post, and others. Her fifth book, The Dry Season, is forthcoming from Alfred. A. Knopf.
At 5 p.m., there will be a book reading and she will be in conversation about her work along with an audience Q&A. There will be a book signing following the event with books available for purchase.
The event is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by the WIU Department of English and the College of Arts and Sciences.
