- Description: The Department of Art & Design presents “First Wednesday” for September 2024!! This event for the Fall 2024 semester will be held from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, September 4, 2024 in Garwood Hall, the Heating Plant Annex and the University Art Gallery.
The WIU art & design faculty combine their efforts to offer creative, hands-on activities to visitors. The event is open and free to the public, and visitors are welcome from campus and the surrounding community and region.

• Drawing plants and flowers with watercolor crayons– Professor Tim Waldrop, Garwood 3 (Basement)
• String Monotypes – Professor Bill Howard, Garwood 12
• Get out the vote posters – Professor Susan Czechowski, Garwood 11
• Screening and discussion of Francis Al˙s' group of videos: "Children's Games." -Professor Holz, Garwood 10
• Tissue Paper Flowers – Professor Ta-Teh Ku, Garwood 24
• Stick and Ink Drawing-Professor Damon MacArthur, Garwood 25
Heating Plant Annex
• One Inch Challenge – Professor Ian Shelly, HPA 111
The University Art Gallery will also be open during the event with 1 exhibition:
“The Don and Nancy Crouch Collection”
