Enrollment Data

Headcount

Western Illinois University headcount enrollment includes student credit hour activity from on campus and extension (online/distance education) courses. Headcount enrollment is calculated at 10th day of each fall and spring semester and at the end of the summer semester. Each student’s enrollment category is determined by the location of the majority of credit hours in which the student is enrolled. There are students who take both on campus and extension courses in any given term, but the headcount is not duplicated, it is based on majority of credit hours for the term.

Full Time Equivalence (FTE)

FTE is a measurement of enrollment calculated by using student credit hour activity. For fall and spring semesters, one full-time equivalent (FTE) student equals 15 student credit hours for undergraduates and 12 for graduates. For summer semester, one FTE student equals 8 student credit hours for undergraduates and 6 for graduates.
