Please note: Award amounts may vary based on funding. Typical award amounts are listed below with each scholarship.

Accountancy Scholarships

$200-$1000. Declared major in accounting within the department. Demonstrates a desire to graduate and contribute to said career field.

RSM Scholarships

$500 (2 awards). Accounting Major. Selection based on academic performance and participation in accounting organizations and activities.

Colonel Marinda Coultas Wood Scholarship

$2000. Awarded to an upper division full-time accounting major. Must have completed intermediate accounting and have a minimum GPA of 3.2 in accounting. Preference given to applicants from Scott, Morgan, Greene, and Pike counties in Illinois and to applicants who plan to sit for the CMA exam.

Craig R. Neader Scholarship

$2000 (3 awards). Must be enrolled at WIU majoring in accounting and be entering 4th or 5th year of the Integrated Accounting Program. Overall GPA of 3.0 and Accounting GPA of 3.0. Must be involved in BAP and must be a United States citizen.

Dr. David A. DeBoeuf Memorial Scholarship

$2000 (2 awards). Must be a senior Finance Major or MBA student with concentration in Finance in year scholarship is received. 3.5 Minimum GPA. Highest level of financial need should be a determining factor. After above criteria have been met, preference should be given to those with campus and community involvement

J. David and Nancy Smith Scholarships

$1000. Accountancy major. Participation in department activities and dedication to good study habits and school work. Demonstrated financial need for professional development award.

Mickey R. Price Scholarship for Accountancy

$1000. Accountancy major. Sophomore standing or above. US Citizen. No minimum GPA requirement. Preference given to members of Theta Chi fraternity. Service to others and involvement in campus activities may be used as final determining factor.

Samuel Oliva Scholarship

$4000 (3 awards). Have completed 60 SH at the end of spring semester of application. Be a declared accounting major or a candidate for the Master of Accountancy degree. Overall GPA of 3.2 and Accounting GPA of 3.2. Demonstrate leadership through involvement in BAP, SCIMA, Society of Accountancy. Full time or part time (min. of 6 SH and demonstrate continuous enrollment and progress toward graduation). Any student receiving this scholarship will automatically qualify for an accounting internship at ECS Financial Services including housing if needed.

Society of Accountancy Scholarship WIU-QC

$350. Awarded to a member of the WIU-QC Society of Accountancy. Selected by officers of the Society of Accountancy based on participation in SOA activities.

George Krull Jr. Scholarship

$500. Awarded to a junior accounting major. Selected based on academic performance and participation in accounting organizations and activities.

Thomas R. Rauman Scholarship

$1000. Accountancy major. Sophomore, Junior, Senior enrolled in the Integrated Master’s Degree program or current graduate student. Selection based on academic performance and participation in accounting organizations and activities.

Penelope J. Yunker Scholarship

$1000. Accountancy major. Sophomore, Junior, Senior enrolled in the Integrated Master’s Degree program or current graduate student. Selection based on academic performance and participation in accounting organizations and activities.

John Deere & Co. Scholarships

$1000 (2 awards). Accounting major. Cumulative GPA of 3.0. Must be work eligible in the US on a full time permanent basis.

Bruce Kruse

$750. Accounting major with preference to students from Auburn, Divernon, Pawnee, Virden and Waverly Counties. Selection based on academic performance and participation in accounting organizations and activities.

Thomas Nardi Scholarship

$2000. Awarded to accounting major with preference given to students from Auburn, Divernon, Pawnee, Virden and Waverly counties. Selection based on academic performance and participation in accounting organizations and activities.

Harriet Hunt Memorial Scholarship

$500. Awarded to Quad Cities Campus accounting major. Selected by the faculty at the WIU-QC campus based on academic performance.

Marcus K. Sipolt Scholarship

$1000 (3 awards). Accounting Major; 90 semester hours earned by end of spring semester; 3.5 GPA.

Dr. Robert M. & Judith A. Crowley Scholarship

$1000. Applicants must either be an Accounting major admitted to the Masters of Accountancy Program or an Accounting major enrolled in the integrated program. Scholarship awarded competitively (GPA minimum 3.0 overall and in accounting). This award is for students who do not have a Graduate Assistantship.

Rhonda Haffner Scholarship

$1500. Accounting Major – undergraduate or graduate student; Earned at least 60+ semester hours; Minimum GPA 3.5; Graduate of West Prairie High School (If no West Prairie High School graduate, then consider a McDonough or Hancock county resident); Preference to Beta Alpha Psi or SCIMA member.

Donald A. Haisch Scholarship

$1000. Full-time accounting major with a minimum 2.5 GPA when 60 credit hours are completed. Preference given to LGBTQ+ and/or BIPOC individuals.

Finance Scholarships

Finance Major Scholarship

$1000. Students must be enrolled at WIU with at least one semester remaining. Students must be declared finance majors with a minimum of a 3.0 overall GPA. Students must have completed two finance courses by the end of the current semester. Scholarship recipients are selected and the award is applied towards the student’s tuition.

James M Clary Scholarship

$1000. Finance major or Incoming Freshman majoring in Finance. Financial need using FAFSA results. Minimum GPA 3.0. Displays academic excellence. Preference to a student who is employed.

James and Peppi Kenny Endowed Scholarship

$500. Enrolled at WIU, majoring in either finance or marketing. The scholarship will be awarded to a finance applicant in even years and a marketing applicant in odd years if qualified applicant is available. Must be a citizen of the United States. Preference will be given to individuals who have demonstrated a record of volunteerism in school, church or community activities and have a WIU GPA average of 3.0 or greater.

George C Potter Scholarship

$1500. Admitted to College of Business and Technology at WIU. Full-time student with a minimum one semester remaining before graduation. Declared finance major, entering or currently in his/her junior or senior year at WIU. Completed or currently enrolled in a real estate class at WIU. Honors and activities will be considered. Financial need may be considered, but is not required. Must have cumulative GPA in the finance major and at WIU overall of at least 3.0. Two letters of recommendation must be submitted with the application, of which at least one has to be from a faculty person outside of the Finance major.

Real Estate Scholarship

$500 and $1000. Must be declared Finance major taking the real estate concentration (Finance 321, 421 and 495.) Minimum GPA of 3.0 is required at the time of application. Student must have either completed FIN 321 with a grade of C or better, or currently be taking FIN 321. Two letters of recommendation with at least one being from a Finance Professor must be provided.

Malcolm S and Mary Lou Torgerson Scholarship

$350. Awarded annually to an outstanding student in Finance. Recipient must be a Finance Club member and a Business major with 60 or more hours earned. Minimum GPA of 3.0. Preference will be given to a student specializing, or particularly interested in pursuing a career in the stock and bond market area.

Research Award for Finance Students

Award varies. To support research cost for Undergraduate Research Day or to support travel and conference costs to present research at an Academy of Finance session at the Annual MBAA Conference.
