2024 WIU Homecoming and Alumni Band

Band in circle on field playing Never Walk Alone

Make plans to be at Homecoming on October 12th, where the Alumni Band will perform with the Marching Leathernecks. We'd love to have you join us this fall for the alumni band, where we will get to perform in the stands and on the field as part of the halftime show.

As usual, we will plan on having an evening gathering at Buffalo Wild Wings after the game on Saturday, where ALL BAND ALUMNI are welcome to join us (just let me know so we know how many people to expect).

Participation in the Homecoming Alumni Band involves coming to the band practice field on Friday, October 11 (optional, if you're in town) to meet current members and fellow alumni, and then on Sat. morning, October 12, for a short rehearsal before getting some time to grab food before we need to get ready for the game (see schedule for details).

For this event, the band alumni will wear the official embroidered "Alumni Band" purple polo shirt and khaki pants or shorts for the game. If you have a shirt from recent years, then you're "good to go" and won't need to purchase one this year. The shirt order cutoff date has passed. If you have not registered yet and need one, I may have a few extra, but can't make any guarantees.

The Homecoming show will be "Western" themed, with the alumni band playing a combination of Rawhide and The Horse.

Our after-game social/get-together will be at Buffalo Wild Wings (1724 E. Jackson St.) from 7:00 to whenever. If you plan on attending this, please use the Registration Form so that we have an accurate idea of the number of people who will be attending and we can notify BWW how many tables and servers to have ready for us. Please register even if you are not participating in the Alumni Band.

If you put down that you are attending, I'd appreciate it if you made a point to be there, or if something comes up and you are unable to (which I do understand, sometimes life gets in the way), to let me know as soon as possible. I have no problem notifying BWW a couple of days before Homecoming that...for example, we'll only have 15 people rather than 20...I just want them to know and be prepared.

Plan to be with us for a great weekend of playing music, reminiscing, getting re-acquainted, and meeting other Marching Leathernecks alumni. We’ll make our plans for next year and work toward getting more alums to join us for a weekend of being a part of the Marching Leathernecks again! Feel free to contact me at bandalumni@wiu.edu if you have any questions.

Thanks for all of your past contributions to the MLs, and we encourage you to get involved again to shape the future for all Marching Leatherneck Alumni.
