Updates on unexpected interruptions or outages will be posted below. Note that STARS and WIUP are offline for maintenance every night from midnight to 3:00 a.m, and some Sundays between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. Other systems may be offline between 9:00 p.m. Friday and 6:00 a.m. Saturday for scheduled server maintenance. Routine maintenance outside of these windows are posted to our Facebook and Twitter feeds.

Disruption Resolution - Macomb/QC Network Link Restored (11:45am)

Our service provider reports that the issue impacting the network link between the Macomb and QC campuses was restored just before 11:00 am. If any lingering issues accessing resources are noticed on the WIU-QC campus, please reach out to us at (309) 298-TECH or support@wiu.edu. Thank you for your patience this morning.

Disruption Update - Macomb/QC Link Outage - Some Services Restored (8:43am)

uTech staff have been able to provide a temporary workaround for the ongoing Macomb/QC network link outage. Access to internet-based services and WIUP have been restored. If any mission-critical services remain unreachable from the QC campus, please let us know by contacting (309) 298-TECH or support@wiu.edu and we will see if it can be accommodated.

Disruption Notice - Macomb,QC Network Link Outage (6:15am)

University Technology was made aware that the network link between the Macomb and QC campuses is down. The issue is with our service provider and a service technician has been dispatched but we currently do not have an ETA on their arrival. Because of this some resources may be unavailable to the QC campus community. Please contact the uTech Support Center if you have any questions.

Disruption Notice - Clientless VPN (12:40pm)

uTech has become aware of issues the clientless VPN at vpn.wiu.edu when trying to access STARS and WIUP. Technicians are investigating. We do not currently have an estimated time to resolution.

  • Impact: Users attempting to go to STARS and WIUP through the web based clientless VPN get a blank screen instead.

Disruption Resolution - WIU-QC Network Outage Resolved (11:20am)

The WIU-QC campus network issue has been resolved. If you have any lingering issues after restarting your workstation, please reach out to the uTech Support Center at support@wiu.edu. Thank you for your patience today.

The Quad Cities campus is currently experiencing an intermittent network outage. Access to the internet, network-based systems, and services may not be available. Technicians are aware and are troubleshooting.

Disruption Notice - Issues placing outgoing calls to Verizon numbers (6:54pm)

McDonough Telephone has informed us that there are issues with campus phones making outgoing calls to Verizon numbers. This is believed to be due to a fiber cut in the St. Louis area. We have no estimated time to restoration at this time, but it appears that the location of the damage has been located and repair crews are on site.

  • Impact: Users may be unable to place outgoing phone calls to Verizon or related phone numbers
